Intercultural Training - Cross Culture Communication

Cross cultural skills for international teams

Mexico

Objectives
Many executives and employees travel to Mexico without a clear idea of the Mexican business culture. Stereotypes and a lack of information about the socio-economic background make it more difficult to integrate into the Mexican business culture and can cause stress and low work motivation. This seminar is a practical way to get to know the Mexican business culture and provides you with an insight into new business environments.
The seminars can be held in English, Spanish or German.

Content

  • Mexican culture and its influence on motivation, approach and communication in the workplace, when planning schedules, in meetings and work procedures
  • Decision-making in Mexican companies
  • Information flow
  • Hierarchies and the concept of responsibility
  • The public and private sectors

Target group

  • Foreign employees and executives who wish to prepare for their stay in Mexico
  • Their families and/or partners
  • Foreign employees and executives working on Mexican projects
  • Foreign companies and organisations planning joint ventures with Mexican companies and organisations
  • Foreign employees and executives who frequently travel to Mexico

Duration
We recommend a two-day seminar for foreign executives, employees and their families.
Intercultural seminars can be organised in combination with your language course.

In Mexico is one of the largest markets in Latin America.
European expatriates working in Mexico frequently complain about the "unreliability" of Mexicans. At the same time their Mexican colleagues often perceive them as "inconsiderate and impolite". Cooperation often turns out to be difficult because the behaviour of a foreign colleague or associate does not match expectations. And it is frequently forgotten that these expectations are part of a specific culture. Such misunderstandings often have dire consequences. They result in trading losses, a bad work atmosphere and falling productivity.
The most significant cultural differences between Mexico and UK are:
· It is an expressively polychronic culture, i.e. with a fundamentally different perception of time to the British culture
· It is strongly context-oriented, thereby a "high context" culture, causing severe misunderstandings

Centro Humboldt's cross cultural seminar "Mexico - a central market in Central America" provides key insights into Mexican business culture. You will learn to deal with culture-based differences and thereby avoid cultural clashes.
