The European language
certificates telc
The European Language Certificates
telc are language examinations at four levels of
the Council of Europe's Common European Framework and are recognised all over
Europe. The language
certificates are a language examination system based on the "Common
European Framework of Reference for Languages" of the Council of Europe.
Centro Humboldt Barcelona is a licensed telc examination
centre offering Spanish, English, German and French examinations for levels A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1.
The European Language Certificates have been a decisive influence on
adult foreign language learning since they were established in 1968. They are
founded on learner-focused learning, based on the interests of the learners, on
fundamental social developments and also on the latest methodological and
didactical approaches. With the consequent orientation on the different
requirements of the individual, the association of language learning with
personal as well as business requirements and ultimately the subsequent changes
in how learning is structured (with a large systematic part of non-directed
learning / self-learning), a common basis becomes even more important.
Authenticity and realism are the key concepts that are characteristic of the
"new language learning". This new approach is applied via concept of
scenarios, through which all the requirements of intercultural communication
are acquired by example, and through which the two basic goals of the TELC
module system can be achieved: firstly, to show how communication works and
thereby provide an important boost for the language course; and, secondly, to
provide mandatory language levels as the foundation for certification.
The individual components of the European language certificates contain the
corresponding descriptions of the learning goals and the tests based on these.
This combination make the European language certificates an unparalleled
system, closely related to the Common European Framework of Reference for
Language Learning and Teaching of the Council of Europe. This ensures that
the certificates aren't merely a reflection of the latest position concerning
developments in teaching techniques but has also provided them with a large
international following.
The D.E.L.E. Diplomas
At Centro Humboldt
Barcelona, centre authorised by the Instituto Cervantes, you can take the official DELE
general language exams. The DELEs (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera),
issued by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of Spain’s Ministry of Education,
offer official accreditation of mastery of the Spanish language for citizens of
countries in which Spanish is not the official language. Over
150.000 people have taken the DELE exams in ninety countries and three hundred
fifty cities throughout the world. The Diplomas are recognized by official
institutions of Spanish – speaking countries and, increasingly, by
corporations, chambers of commerce, and educational institutions in Europe and
the United States. Several American universities award course credit for the
diplomas or require them of Spanish majors.
The examinations, offered at three levels, test your ability to read,
write, speak and understand Spanish.
The exam for obtaining the DELEs (Inicial, Intermedio and
Superior) consists of five tests: reading comprehension, written expression,
listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, and oral expression. The grade
"no apto" (unsatisfactory) in one of the sections will imply the
candidate's failure in the entire exam. All parts should be retaken at a future
date.
